We're Getting Better All The Time

2010 has seen our Cub Pack grow to it's maximum
i.e. 28 Cubs!!! We have even set up a Waiting List, such is the
demand for places within our very healthy Pack.
Part of this impressive growth is also due to Beaver's who
have reached Cub Scout age and have subsequently moved
up to the Pack.

We must acknowledge a Very Special Thanks to Cliff Jordan
who has been running the Pack, with the able assistance of
Steve Gibbs and Pam Eason, despite having several other "hats"
to wear on behalf of the Group. We must also thank those "hardy
parents" who have ventured along to assist also.

Since Christmas 2009we must also extend our thanks to
Mark Conroy, who has offered his support once a month and
Fleur Dawes, a local resident who has also been getting involved,
which is greatly appreciated.
Mark has also enlisted the additional support of a few older students
who have been coming along during June 2010 to offer some additional
help with our ever increasing Cub Pack-thanks!!

District 5-A Side and Sports Day

We recently participated in the District Cubs 5-A Side
Football Competition and the District Sports Day Events.

Our gallant football team came third out of seven who
participated, which was a great achievement. Well done!!

In the District Sports Event we only had three Cubs take
part. This was due to the Sports Day falling on the same
date as the second half-term school holiday which was
unfortunate.
However, those that did participate came 2nd and 3rd in a
number of races, so well done to them for their excellent
efforts!!!.

John Wood's Music Workshop

We were lucky enough to have a Music Workshop for the Cubs up
at The Mansergh recently, thanks to a guest called John Wood.
This was very well attended and enjoyed by all participants and
helped contribute towards the Cubs 1st Stage Music Badge.

John is an accomplished Tuba player and with his trombone and
playing counterparts did a grand job entertaining us all.
We hope to have more of these kind of events, workshops,
guest speakers etc. going forward, as they are always a lot
of fun for all involved.

End Of Term Date

The last Cub Scout Meeting for this term will be on
WEDNESDAY 14th JULY, 2010.

Future Plans

We hope to have a Weekend Camp at some point during September/
October 2010, which will be especially nice if the good weather continues
through till then.

A Spring Camp 2011 will be undertaken next yearwith the rest of
the District, at Croydon.

It would be wonderful to have another Christmas Show as we did a
few years ago, but I will l;et you know if this materialises over the
coming months.

That's it for now folks!!
