Explorers in St John's Wood & Maida Vale

Scouts who reach the age of 14 years can go to our intrinsically linked District Explorer unit: Westminster Phoenix run by Diehard leaders. It is open for all Scouts in West London District to join as well as Diehard Scouts.

Explorer Scouts are encouraged to lead themselves in deciding the programme and direction of the Unit, with support and guidance from leaders.

Explorers meet at The Mansergh on Thursday evenings 8.00 pm till 9.30 pm with a wide variety of activities on offer for those aged 14-18 years old. From pioneering to bouldering; bushcraft to kayaking; cooking and team sports to camping and hiking; we do our best to implement a good mix of traditional Scouting alongside providing the option to engage with new experiences and different cultures.

Our aim is to run a balanced programme focused on improving young people's practical and social skills that will help them through to adulthood and have as much fun as we can in the process. The section also gives the option and support to join the Young Leaders' Scheme, where young people are able to take on a role in one of the younger sections and strengthen their leadership skills.
