Through Our Centenary and Beyond

2021

At last as Covid restrictions are lifted the sections get back to meeting face to face. Group Zoom in October to mark the 100 years. Toast made by our Group President - John Sherry. New Explorer Unit more affiliated with the 8th Group started - name chosen is Westminster Phoenix and run by Georgie Brandon, open to members from the District as well as members from the Diehards. Green Beret Competition still suspended so the Scouts hold a sleepover event at Kings Langley Scout HQ.

2022

Diehards Centenary Camp Fire Event at Mansergh Scout HQ in London

The Centenary and Old Scouts Reunion in March attracted many Diehardians, apart from Old Scouts and their partners, members of the Group and a good number of parents came along to support a memorable occasion. Our special Guest of Honour was our UK Chief Commissioner - Carl Hankinson and he was accompanied by our County Commissioner and District Commissioners. Everyone was invited to sign the Centenary book which will be added to during the course of the year by Group members, it is a chance to leave a message there too.A full report is in Diehard News

In early June a Centenary Camp was held at Phasels Wood which was well attended by all sections of the Group.A full report will appear in Diehard News

To complete the Year's celebrations on the 1st October 150 scouts (all sections) parents and Old Scouts attended the Mansergh for an indoor Campfire Event. The official unveiling of the Centenary Plaque presented at the Dinner was carried out by our President Mr John Sherry. Members of the Group took us through some milestones in the Groups history with images projected on a screen which culminated with a video message from our UK Chief Commissioner - Carl Hankinson. Numbers in all sections continue to grow which is a positive omen for our future.A full report will appear in Diehard News
