Once every four years Scout Troops from the Greater London Middlesex West County are invited to attend an International Camp in a little town called Kandersteg in Switzerland.
An international Scout centre, instigated by Baden Powell himself sits above 1,000m in the Swiss mountains.
Kandersteg International Scout Centre is a World Centre of the World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM). Not only do the Scouts get to meet Scouts from all over the world, they also partake in some of the most mind-blowing outdoor activities available.
In 2003 the Diehards climbed and hiked up mountains at approximately 2000m AOD, took part in canyoning (which is essentially jumping off waterfalls down a high energy Alpine river), visited Bern, helped broadcast a radio show, enjoyed campfires, cheese and yogurt and much much more. This opportunity is something that will be remembered for the rest of their lives.
We go again in 2017!
